This year’s annual* VOCA Benefit Concert features local rising star, Chris Marshall - a multi-album recording artist who grew up in rural northwest Oregon. Marshall and his band have played many venues in the Portland area and has opened for likes of Bill Mallonee of the Vigilantes of Love.  (* after a one year hiatus!)

Chris’ approach to his music is best summed up the way he describes himself as “...just a guy who lives down the street, writes songs, then sings ‘em.” The local area has taken notice. Here’s what some have written:

“Chris brings an intelligent and warm approach to writing country music that is a hallmark of its history, but too little emphasized today.” - Wildy’s World

“...wonderfully inspirational country-tinged music that avoids country music cliches...Oregon to the core.”
- Nestucca Spit Press

VOCA is Victory Over Child Abuse, and is a camp in Clatsop County that has provided safety and support for children who have experienced sexual violence. VOCA Camp has been providing a safe and family-style atmosphere for children for nearly 25 years, but like many small, non-profit organizations, have struggled financially through these difficult economic times. Your admission costs from this event goes completely and entirely to VOCA Camp. There will be a brief presentation on VOCA at the intermission.

For more information on VOCA Camp, go to: www.vocacamp.org.

Chris Marshall’s performance is his donation to VOCA Camp, and the purchase of one of his CDs helps defer any of his personal costs.
